History

Founded 20 years ago as a private venture capital firm, Technology Partners manages a total of approximately  $700 million of investment capital. Investments are being made currently from Technology Partners VIII, L.P., a $300 million fund.

Investment Strategy

Technology Partners teams with visionary entrepreneurs to build successful new companies. We serve principally as a lead investor and business advisor to both Life Science and Cleantech companies. Over time, we have cultivated distinct "centers of excellence" in which we have deep industry knowledge, domain, experience, and technical expertise. By concentrating our investments within these "centers of excellence," we are better able to select potential investments, as well as provide valuable advice to assist our portfolio companies.  Our current areas of focus are:

Investment Criteria

Many factors enter into Technology Partners' investment decision, but four critical ingredients must be present:

• Passionate and pragmatic people with whom we can build productive partnerships
   
• Large market opportunities with a clear customer need
   
• Unique and defensible technology that provides competitive positioning to secure market leadership
   
• Focused and capital-efficient business model

While we generally invest in earlier-stage ventures, we will consider later-stage rounds, if the opportunities are compelling and in areas of strategic interest. Our typical initial investment ranges from $1-10M and our total investment per company is up to $25M.
